About the author
Mr. Larry Vaughn is a first time author I believe and he also has a bible study blog which he uses to teach and evangelize. He has been married for forty two years to his wife Marie and he has three daughters and eleven grandchildren. He lives outside of Memphis Tennessee.
Summary /description of book
This book is 418 pages long. It is the size of a medium size Bible and it covers most every topic in a style and method based on his personal revelation of the subject matter of Gods laws and wisdom. I can feel the inspiration of the Holy Spirit on every page and it totally enraptures one and keeps you hungry for more. The best part of the book is that there is only scripture and (personal) interpretation, and this format does not waver from beginning to end. It’s interesting to see how God is using this man and that’s what this book really is; a chronicle of Larry Vaughn’s walk with God. I think it’s important to utilize this (walk with God) because mentors today are in very short supply. God says the harvest is ripe but the laborers are few. The author is definitely down in the trenches with all people who are searching for God and he is truly doing his part to sow into the kingdom with what God has given him to sow.
I feel the purchase price of this book is a steal and it’s highly evident that many nights of reflection has gone into the producing of this hand book. How can one put a price on such a thing? I remember another great man of God saying “What a privilege it is to literally buy the hard fought or maybe even a complete life’s work from another for only a few measly dollars”. If people could only grasp that concept they would see that they could literally save themselves countless hours of deception from the enemy and possibly even removing great amounts of pain in their lives.
Review
I read the Bible Believer’s Handbook intermittently through the course of some time. To me, that’s the way this book should be viewed and read. It should be a reference guide (handbook) as it is aptly titled. I found it was humble, to the point and simple in its use. Mr. Vaughn is truly a born again believer. He gives timeless advice on things of God because it is God doing the writing through him.
I enjoyed the straight forward approach to his writing style with the scripture verses listed first and then his interpretation of that scripture. I appreciated his demeanor and humility in making every example and story to the glory of God. The book is layed out in different sections that allow one to reference different topics or subjects with veritable ease. For a young or new Christian this is a great companion book along with ones bible. It would give firsthand knowledge and be a great benefit to the reader from one who has gone through many of the growing steps of becoming a Christian. Today, this information is vital to ones success so that one does not end up on the ash heap of back slid den Christians.
I feel this small portion of the authors writing on page 76 sums up this book better than I ever could. Larry Vaughn writes: “Jesus is the Living Word of God. The Bible is the written word of God. So the Bible is the written word about the Living Word. That’s why they agree so perfectly. The more you read about Jesus, the better you know him. Eventually he becomes so real, it’s as if he has stepped out of the pages of the Bible. He is not a historical figure or a fictional hero. He is real and he is alive today. He makes your life as a believer enjoyable and real and he is alive today. He makes your life as a believer enjoyable and exciting. It is not a life of drudgery and hardship. It’s the adventure of your life. It’s having the Creator of the universe as your best friend. It’s discovering the extent of the love he has for you. It’s receiving the good things he has in store for you.” As I have said, this sums it up for me! The author has captured the essence of a true believer. I agree personally with the author that the issue of “only believing” is the real crux of the whole of Christianity. It’s about a love relationship with God and it’s not about a religious and works based existence. That’s why this handbook is so great; Mr. Vaughn shows how the dynamics of a relationship with God work with real life, real time experiences.
Recommendation
I recommend “The Believers Handbook” whole heartily to each and every person who runs across it. While today, one can get more information than one can ever hope to read in one’s lifetime concerning Christian thought, this bit of wisdom is a look into the clear and wide window of Gods heart. It’s honest, upbeat, discerning and accurate wisdom from God. That is all anybody can expect with quality text written on the subject of God. I would think that any church group or Christian school would love to include this book in their source list for future study. I don’t have to wish the author any success because God is guiding Mr. Vaughn to where this book needs to get. I know that it is a privilege to write this short and simple review of this Bible aid and with that said I will thank the author for his devotion and love of God because it completely comes out through this writing.
