The absolutely perfect fantasy fiction for middle school and young adult readers, Behold the Eye: Viridia is a rare blend of humor, action, and heart. Third in a trilogy that illustrates how important the anchor of a safe home is to young minds, this novel finds heroine Vickie Sutton first in a coma and then missing. As her parents and friends follow the clues of what they suspect is a kidnapping, they begin to wonder if it is an epidemic when Vickie’s good friend Tricia Jones falls into a coma, too. As Vickie and Tricia’s two very best friends Karen and Cathy put the pieces together, their only hope is that through dream traveling they will begin to make sense of the mystery before it is too late. Vickie must travel to Viridia, the Land of the Green Eyes, with new friends Micah and Shanti, with the hope that someone will know how to safely send her back home to her own world through the land of dreams.

Behold The Eye: Viridia is the third book in the triology by Veronica Tabares. This book brings the conclusion to whether our young friend Vickie will ever make it home. Micah, Shanti, Daafyd, and Vickie did not find the knowledge that they seek in regards to be able to send Vickie home in the land of Cerulea know for it's knowledge. Before they embark on the trip to Viridia, Vickie questions Shanti of why they have to go to this land if they are already in the Land Of Knowlegde with all the Universities and nothing came of it. Shanti assures her they have nothing to lose to see if this other land have the knowledge they seek and if it doesn't she is more then welcome to live with her and Micah in Braumaru. Daafyd is from Viridia so the group feels reasonably safe since he has green eyes and all living things are made calm in their presence. They make sure he sticks close as to not get eaten by any animals that do not understand them. Shanti starts to recount of tale of a girl from her village that came to Viridia alone and what happened to her. When they get to the land of Viridia, Vickie is filled with all the lush greenery and the wonderful smells of luscious fruit of which she has her fill. Meanwhile Tricia is still trapped in the house that she closed the door to get back at Vickie for ignoring her and replacing her with Micah and Shanti as friends.  She realizes later that she is trapped in the house and wonders if someone will find her. In the real world she is in a coma and her family hopes that she doesn't disappear like Vickie. Throughout the book Rhonda, Roland's daughter is writing in her diary about her missing dad and finds his papers about him wanting to take over the world because it owes him. Also during this time Cathy and Karen are the only two of the girls left and they are determined they need to find their friends. They discover dream travel to do it.  Also in the book is newspaper clippings of children disappearing into the night starting from the earlier centuries. Some of the children reappeared out of nowhere on their own while others stayed lost. All the ones that came back couldn't remember where they had been during their disappearance. They probably didn't want to mention as they may be thought of as crazy. So many others have dream travel but did not know what they were doing. At some point Cathy, Karen, and Rhonda meet up and agree to help each other find their love ones. Micah, Shanti, and Vickie also found the knowledge they sought in the land of Viridia. Roland doesn't make an appearance in this book till towards the end. Has Roland changed his wicked ways once his daughter finds him since he has been trapped in a device of his own design? I like this book cause it really tied all the books together. It also made it seem that dream travel is an everyday occurrence that we all should be aware of because you never know what happens when we go to sleep.

In The last installment of three. Behold the Eye: Veridia begins right where it's predecessor Behold the eye: Curulea leaves off. In this book we find a conclusion to the dream travel of Vickie at last. As they

As they leave Curulea, the land of blue eyes who can read minds, they travel onto Veridia the land of green eyes, where all the citizens are intensely connected to all wildlife. It is a world like none of the other books writer Veronica R. Tabares' has written, and fits fantastically to the other adventures she has her characters encounter along the way in their strange yet fascinating journey.

Veridia brings Tricia, Cathy, and Kathy, Vickie's best friends set their minds on finding a way to get Vickie back to them by dream travel. They are very focused on their goal and despite any dangers they might encounter are determined to prevail in their task!  So much so that Tricia becomes stuck within the dream world as well posing yet another problem for the girls, how to release Tricia so they can find Vickie and take her back home where she belongs. Throughout the book, the reader sees the friendships of these girls grow tighter and tighter and leaves the reader with a feeling of satisfaction that these young girls have learned something many adults struggle with, the importance of friendship.

When Tricia is trapped, she too falls into a deep coma in her real world, leaving those who stand by her side, clueless as to what has happened, wondering if this could be part of a larger picture for both Vickie and Tricia. On the surface, everyone tries to bring Vickie and Tricia back but the reader knows that until they can escape the dream world, there is little hope of them returning.

In fact, within this entire book, family and friendship play a large part of the story and the relationships between the characters involved grow deeper with every page within this remarkable book.

Vickie, while searching for a way out, still knows she must find a way home or she may be forced to repeat a grade due to her prolonged absence, and while on one hand it is appealing, she also knows that she also may be trapped in the dream world forever.

While trapped in her dream world, Vickie, Shanti and Micah are forced to undertake a dangerous quest which not only is a task of difficulty and surprises but proves to be much more difficult that the three expected. During this quest, Vickie comes to an epiphany of sorts where she asks herself some hard questions, questions that answers do not come easily but are ultimately the best for Vickie. The outcome of their quest is one the reader must experience for him/herself, as it is unique indeed.

Back in the real world, parents of Vickie and Tricia, convinced that a kidnapping of sorts has to the be the answer to the girls disappearance and all those who are near and dear to these two find themselves working not only to find the girls but learning lessons themselves along the way of the importance of a home that is safe for their children. This is a lesson that the searchers take to heart and as they search, the lesson only grows more solid within them.

The ending, as in all writer Veronica R. Tabares' books is best read to appreciate. I as a writer myself prefer the reader to discover the ending and experience it in their own special way as both a person and as a lover of books. And this book is no different.

Fantastic and entertaining in all ways, at times an "on the edge of your seat" read, this book, and the trilogy itself is one I would wholly recommend to parents, grandparents and anyone who wants to open a new world for the young reader in your life. Don't stop with purchasing  just the first book, but the entire trilogy and save yourself time, for it is imaginative, exciting and adventurous, three attributes that make for a successful serious, and this serious is all that and much more! Happy reading...enjoy!

One friend (Vickie) had already disappeared after being in a coma, another (Tricia) was in a coma, while their friends Cathy and Karen had an idea of why and how they got there, they really wanted to know if they could get them back.  Being struck in the dream world had not been part of the plan when Tricia had first attempted following Vickie, trying to saver had been.  Vickie had made new friends with Micah and Shanti after they had played a part in rescuing her from the dream land and bringing her to this other world.  Now they were trying to help her get home again.  The lands that they had traveled through offered information at every turn.  The brown-eyed people of Baraumaru offered premonitions, but nothing that foretold how to dream travel.  The blue-eyed people of Cerulea with their Universities and their vast psychic abilities didn’t know of the solution either.  So, off to Viridia, the land of the green-eyed people, with their connection to every living thing, they were the last hope of finding a safe  and sure way for Vickie to dream travel back to her own home.

Book 3 ….. A conclusion of sorts.  The first book of this story is an introduction to the people, places and concept of the story.  The second book is the action, suspense and the reasoning for the story.  The third book, this book is the conclusion of the story.  Not much else to it either.  This was more difficult to read because of the repetitiveness of the whole thing.  It also felt a little disjointed in places almost like there were pages out of order or missing.  It was a mostly predictable ending and then there was the addition of chapter 24 - completely not necessary.  The addition of the ‘newspaper articles’ through out the book was confusing at first, but after finally realizing why they were there, the last chapter was redundant.  I did like the story of dream travel to other worlds and the possibilities of being caught there without knowing how to go home again.

Behold the Eye: Viridia, the final installment of this very thrilling trilogy, is just as fantastic, suspenseful and wonderful as Behold the Eye: Braumaru and Cerulea!  We open again with a letter to Vickie’s local librarian, not only addressing this current book, but the previous two books and she explains her feelings regarding the last letters sent regarding this tale.  The reader will find the Roland’s daughter, Rhonda, is determined to find and assist her father, as feel victim to the very trap he had originally set for Vickie in the previous installment. However, not only is Roland stuck in this bizarre ‘dream house’, but so is Tricia; Vickie’s best and closest friend.  The story is also peppered with articles regarding children that have mysteriously gone missing, to be explained later of course!

Now that Tricia is trapped, she has not yet figured out exactly what has happened is exactly what occurred to Vickie, and that there is more going on with her physical being. However, being the personality she is, she does not give up trying to get out of the ‘dream house’ she is stuck in.

Back at home, Vickie’s mother has connected with the one person that could help her and believe her regarding her daughter’s disappearance. She finally has some hope to recover her lost daughter. Vickie’s other two friends make the choice to discipline themselves to not just help the two friends, but themselves as they fear they can be next to suffer what they have witnessed with their group.  However, as they practice ‘dream travel’, they encounter Rhonda at the very ‘dream house’ they expect to find their friend! The three then decide it would be best to work together to find their missing loved ones.

Vickie and her new friends make their way to the ‘land of the green eyes’ known as Viridia, and encounter some very interesting events when they arrive. Luckily, before any harm can occur to them, they are taken in by new green-eyed friends that have the knowledge they need to help Vickie arrive home.

Just as in the previous works, Behold the Eye: Viridia continues with conflict, emotions, suspense, action and mystery. All characters in this tale are well-detailed, so the reader can easily interpret the behavior, feelings, motives and actions of each person even before it may be stated.  There is indeed a hidden meaning or two behind this story and with the characters, so if you find it then the story will resonate even more with you – whatever your age!

The final installment Veronica R. Tabares Behold the Eye: Viridia is as alluring to young readers as the first two. Once again she transports readers into a magical world of imagination.

Truly a fun and exciting book that has no flaws. Although it should come with a reader beware sign stating that once you pick it up you won’t want to pick it down.
