This is a self improvement, motivational and personal development book that is designed to be read on a daily basis. One page a day for one year. Each page starts with an inspirational quote, followed by a discussion of that day's topic, and ends with a task or an assignment for the reader to follow.

Achieve Anything in Just One Year equips readers with the tools to:

  • Be truly committed. Don't just go through the motions - act like you're making a promise to your company, or to your best friend.
  • Be specific. A resolution like "I want to lose weight" is easier to ignore than "I want to lose five pounds by March."
  • Set a deadline. A timeframe equals commitment and helps quantify success.
  • Avoid overwhelming yourself. You may want to lose weight, quit smoking, achieve moderation with martinis and cut up your credit cards all at once, but let's get real. Focus on a limited set of goals and plan on taking stock mid-year.
  • Change one thing at a time. Recognize that change is hard. Wait to achieve one goal before starting on the next.
  • Be realistic. Taking charge of a fitness regimen is a realistic goal, while exercising seven days a week may not be. Don't set yourself up for disappointment with lofty goals.

The idea is to take daily action that creates a ripple effect in your life.

By transforming your life with small steps, you can stay motivated, focused and balanced. Best of all, you will feel happier about pursuing your personal success.

Achieve Anything In Just One Year:

We all want to achieve things throughout our lives,  be it a professional, educational, social, personal or health related goal.  And we all know that feeling of unease or frustration when we think we aren't  progressing quickly enough towards that elusive goal.  Most of us recognize that wonderful rush of motivation that comes with setting and working towards a goal.  But what happens when those inevitable stumbling blocks come along?

Jason Harvey is a Certified Life Coach and the founder of the Limitless Institute.  He's written a book that may well change your opinion of self motivation and goal setting.  There is no quick and lasting fix to anything.  Harvey makes it plain that the process may be painful and not fun or easy.  But you have to decide your dreams are worth working for.  When you are ready to move foward, this book will show you the way.

As a former social worker and life long student of psychology, I thought I knew motivation and goal setting.  This book gave me a new view, and an insight into personal motivation that rings energizing and true.

The book is well written in a friendly and positive style.  Unlike many self help books, it's not designed to be read through and put aside.  The book takes the novel approach of being formatted to be read, digested and meditated upon slowly, a portion each day for the entire year.  You can spend 5 or 10 minutes daily, reading a small portion, then thinking about your personal circumstances, making notes and moving onward.  Each day's narrative is headed by a motivational and thought provoking quote.   You'll find yourself motivated for the long term, with those lifts we need for the tough times.

I can't recommend this book highly enough.  It's a wonderful, workable approach for anyone wanting to move in a new direction and make lasting changes.

I like this book!  At first the cover had me a little doubtful but  it grew on me after I started  getting into the content of the book.  "Achieve Anything in Just One Year" is a motivational  compilation of daily readings and assignments to assist in achieving goals.  Basically, both get you in the mindset for the day.
The reading for day 39 starts off with "You are now becoming a person of action. How does that feel? It can be quite a powerful  experience."  The assignment for the day is "to continue to be a person of action.  Don't interrupt your efforts with talk.  Get back to work."

Day 126 starts off with "You have already explored the fact you cannot reach success on your own. You need other people in your life."  The reading continues and ends up with the assignment " Practice tact today and give your ego the day off."

For the purpose of this review I didn't complete the readings/assignments but intend to because they have become a routine in my daily life.  Reading and doing the assignment first thing in the morning sets me up for the day.

I compliment  Jason Harvey for creating a simple, step-by-step, quick paced but effective tool for us to use. Achieving goals and desires has never been easier!
