A book by a teenager for teenagers!
Words of a Journey is a book for anyone who wants to take a closer look at life's meaning and their experiences. Seventeen-year old Kaitlyn Kashman has designed this book to provide thought-stimulation on various issues and feelings that young adults explore. The book is a potpourri of poetry, with introspective, inspirational questions and observations to stimulate thought in readers so they can come to a clearer understanding of their own feelings and desires.

Topics for deeper introspection run the vast range of emotions and situations young adults experience to help readers analyze and clarify their own relationships:

  • Understanding unrequited love leads to analysis between what is a want vs. a need.
  • The difficulties of first love, learning about oneself, seeking the thrill of love, and knowing when it is best to end.
  • Discovering that one cannot change for another person.
  • Learning that sometimes we love our own fictional version of a person.
  • Nourishing a budding sense of new identity.
  • Finding the boundaries between two people, accepting and embracing ourselves.

An important book for any teenager or young adult, Words of a Journey will take readers down a path that will lead them back home to find a better version of themselves.

Critics Praise for Words of A Journey
"In Words of a Journey Kaitlyn gives teenagers permission to think for themselves and a place to express themselves on the pages of the book. A simple thought gives way to self-expression and the opportunity for clarity. Words of a Journey: My Thoughts on Life and Living, serves as a journal that can be used every day. Often, we simply need to see our thoughts in print to make sense out of our struggle and to fully appreciate our joy!"

Words of a Journey caused me to think about my life and what I have experienced in it. I find that while reading Words of a Journey I feel a connection to what Kaitlyn Kashman has written, I feel like I know what some of what she has experienced. However, the experiences that I have had are slightly different than those that she has experienced.

One thing that really stood out when I read Words of a Journey is that Kaitlyn Kashman gives you space to write in the book beside her writings. I like this feature because it inspired me to write about things that I have experienced or even just thought about. Words of a Journey helps to give you inspiration to write about your own life, experiences you have had or would like to have or thoughts that have randomly glided through your mind. I also found that it was extremely easy to read Kashman’s book because it was written clearly and it was understandable.I think that Kailyn's idea of puting lined pages into her book was a great idea, especially since I am also a writer and it inspired me to write even more. I like that you are able to write next to Kaitlyn’s words because it makes you feel like you are adding to the original books content. I felt like I was writing a book of my own right next to hers.

I would definitely recommend Words of a Journey to everyone that I know. I think that Kaitlyn’s book is very inspirational and would be very helpful to anyone who would want or need to examine their own experiences and ideas.Words of a Journey could be life changing for some people especially if those people trouble dealing with their own lives. It would also be good for aspiring writers or even non-writers who are kind of lost and are in need of a way to express themselves. It is always nice to read a book that inspires your inner writer.

What a concept! And what a long overdue book is "Words of a Journey" written by Seventeen-year old Kaitlyn Kashman, a book that can only be described as "one with the soul."

In a way that only a seventeen year old can, Kaitlyn explores, discusses and asks questions that are as old as time but at the same time are new as the bud on a spring rose. She finds that some subjects are hard to discuss and for this reader at least, were hard to read, so raw they were in their honesty.
For in her frank, introspective style, Kaitlyn takes the reader to places within her writing that one might never have considered, to ask questions that cause the reader to pause and reassess one's own answers and finally to realize that by merely reading the words written within this tome, the reader will never be the same.
Though I am far from seventeen, I found myself transported back to a time when the world was new, exciting and full of possibilities, experiences and even fears. I found myself longing for the chance to step back into my seventeen year old life again, if only to see if I would have felt as I did then while reading this book today.
I found myself not only afraid of the emotions long buried, some pages dredged up. But to be honest, I also found myself openly weeping as I realized that my heart had not changed so very much in the years between seventeen year old Kaitlyn and myself, no matter how much I wish it had. The follies and foibles of my youth came back full force and while they opened anew old wounds, they also showed me clearly how they formed the woman I am today.
And that is where I leave the reader. I leave you to read and experience this book not just as a teen who is learning, stumbling, failing and succeeding in this game called life but I leave you perhaps as an older reader, to reflect back upon ones youth and reflect upon how your life has changed (or perhaps not changed at all) since you like Kaitlyn were seventeen.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who has a young woman in their life who is full of life, love and an eagerness for what lies ahead. It is a wonderful jumping off place for discussions and bonding between the readers.
And I recommend this book for those of us who are not so young, to remind us what it is like to be seventeen once again and face the unknown without a safety net. This book brings to the forefront the fact that life does not come with an instruction book and though everyone who reads it will react differently, there are no wrong answers as long as they are honest.

The ending of this book, will never be the same for any one person but I can guarantee that if shared with someone special in your life, you will both come out of the experience, richer for the reading thanks to Kaitlyn and her words of wisdom which open the door wide for other discussions and sharing of life...something that is priceless indeed.
