Most people enjoy a good mystery, the intrigue, the thrills and the resolution of a crime can be great to read or to participate in by solving the crime as the clues unfold. An especially intriguing way to enjoy a good mystery is to read and solve mini mysteries. A good book to check out in this particular genre is the book, Dead Men Do Tell Tales by author Sherban Young. This book is published by Dover Publications, a company that is known for publishing some of the better magic, games and puzzle books. With this book you are the detective and use your powers of deductive reasoning to solve the various mysteries.
This book is a compilation of sixty mini mysteries that the reader can solve on their own or use the hints provided for extra help. Also contained in this book are the actual solutions to each intriguing mystery, and listed resources for further reading on various topics. This book covers all sorts of subject matter such as; bar rooms, billiards, telemarketers, Hollywood, the fashion world, teachers, the mob, chefs, and even umpires. All the contained mysteries provide ingenious murder scenarios that it takes more than just a wild guess to solve. These mysteries are not for those unaccustomed to using their logical thinking skills and by attempting to solve these mini mysteries is a good way to train yourself to become more of a logical thinker.
The mysterious scenarios in this book are interesting, well written and at times can be tough to solve. You have to really think outside of the box to solve these puzzles but that is all part of the fun. The brief story surrounding each murder scene make is both detailed and interesting making this book an ideal activity to take on a family trip or on a daily trek to work or school. It is fun to read the clues and determine the suspect in these mysteries on your own or with others.
I would recommend this book for the many amateur sleuths and sleuthing experts alike who enjoy reading smartly devised, brief murder mystery scenes and trying to solve them.
