Mustafa Alfani is mad and there's nothing more dangerous than a mad leader of a sleeper cell.  For twenty years, Mustafa has waited for his controller in Iran to give him the green light to launch his attack on the birthplace of American freedom.  He will no longer wait, but now the mission is for him not the Ayatollahs.  By the end of the day he will have wreaked havoc on the country he hates while at the same time with his new partner he will have enriched himself beyond his wildest dreams.   Jordan Wright didn't start out wanting to fight terrorists, but a Priest made him do it.  Mentored by a Franciscan with a past as a CIA operative, Jordan followed the advice of Fr. Marco and joined an elite organization that leads the effort to rid the world of extreme violence by those who falsely use religion as their call to arms.  Moving throughout the world with the consent of friendly governments this team has become the front line to stop terror.   Wright knows something is amiss.  Two informants, one in Italy and one portraying to be a father of one of the terrorists have provided insight into the group.  Wright's instincts are too finely tuned to betray him.  His team is on the trail of Alfani, but will they figure out the real mission in time.

How well do you really know your neighbor? Are you certain that they are who they claim or appear to be? Government operative Joshua Wright is certain that there are many Americans who are not what they seem. He theorizes that there are many terrorist sleeper cells across the US just biding their time until they are activated. His theory is proven correct when a plot to attack Philadelphia is uncovered. There is a sleeper cell there that has been in place for decades and for its leader, Iranian Mustafa Alfani, the time to strike has finally arrived. However, he plans to betray the trust of of Iran's leaders in order to accept a better offer from a new player. Wright will have to use all his experience to determine where the real threat lies if he is going to stop an attack that would devastate America.

Enemy Among Us by Randy Reardon is an all too real imagining of something that could very well be going on even as we speak. Sleeper cells may seem like just a literary device employed by the likes of Tom Clancy but there is certainly no reason why they couldn't exist here in the United States. Reardon has created a cast of characters worthy of attention and I look forward to future entries in this series. This book is just long enough to fully develop the storyline while at the same time being short enough to easily be read on a cross-country flight. I throughly enjoyed this book and award it 5/5 stars.
