It is 1976 and a huge hurricane is threatening the New Jersey coast. The protagonist is waiting out the storm with friends in Ocean Beach, but his mind is focused on Jan. Even though the relationship was short-lived due to her jealous friend, Allan, and the protagonist’s mistake with another woman, he takes off to save her from the storm. On his way to the ocean front bar where she works, he trips and his head rams into a car and he begins to lose consciousness as a police car looms in the background ready to run him over.

As Chapter two starts the year is 2002 and the protagonist is a bitter and lonely person who spends his time drinking and thinking too much about what happened during the summer of 1976. One night at a local bar, he thinks about Jan and how she was murdered not long after the hurricane.  While Allan is initially arrested for the murder, her new boyfriend, Mike finds himself in police custody after Allan turns up murdered just like Jan. Both were murdered with the same gun. While wondering what he would do if he had a second chance with Jan, he is approached by a mysterious person, who offers him a chance to travel back in time to meet the man he once was with the memories of what he had become. He offers him a chance to find out what happens past twilight. Yes, the stranger tells him: you only have six months to live.      Reluctant to the idea at first, the protagonist is manipulated into going back in time, because he is a man and he has to see her if only to see her.  But he also has to find Jan’s real mother and father. What did they have to do with all the deaths that happened the first time around? Why doesn’t Jan know the identity of her real parents? He knows that he has to find out what really happened before the hurricane happens or the same murders will happen again.   "Hemingway is a very talented writer.  Past Twilight is a fast-paced read that will keep you turning the pages." Rickey Bay author of Rendezvous Rock
