How to become a reviewer for ReviewTheBook.com
Before you complete the application form, please read the following guidelines. We only accept serious reviewers; those that are willing to go the extra mile to read the book and post reviews. This is not a site where you can just get free books for your reading pleasure or to sell. The return for the books is to post reviews.
If accepted as a reviewer for ReviewTheBook.com
You will read and review printed books in the genre of your choice and those posted on ReviewTheBook.com by the author/publisher. ReviewTheBook.com will not list pornography or books with racist themes. Adults or children/teens can review books published for children/teens.
Author/publishers will list the books they want reviewed. You may choose any books or as many books as you would like to review, however, keep in mind the review must be submitted within 3 weeks from receiving the book. Please allow one week for mailing. We prefer that you commit to at least 2 books per month. Of course, we'd happier if you reviewed more than that.
The book must be read. Upon completion you will write a review no less than 350 words and no more than 750 words (3 to 4 paragraphs.) You will post the review on at least 10 sites:
The mandatory sites are:
· Flapjacket.com (children/teen/ya only)
· IJustFinishedReading.DO NOT USE
· Living Social Books - Discontinued
· Take 2
· Borders
· Reviewer's Facebook "We Read" App - www.
· Reviewer's Blog of Choice
· Reviewer's Personal Blog
· Reviewer's Twitter Account
Don't have a blog yet? Start your own here!
There is no monetary compensation, however, you get to keep the publication. You may keep the book, pass it on to a friend, donate it to a charity or sell it.
We will not copyright the review. See Terms of Use.
Please do not contact authors or publishers directly for other books to review, or send the review directly to them. However, please contact the author/publisher when your reviews are posted.
Number of books you can have at one time
You can have 5 books out for review at one time. Once you post a review for one book you will automatically be able to order another book for review.
Deposit Fee
We charge a $75.00** deposit fee. (**Please note: If you can promise me that you will not flake out on me, I'll certainly consider giving you honorary membership immediately. Just contact me using the contact link on the top right hand corner.)
Why do we charge? This is to eliminate those that only want free books to read. Yes, we know, it doesn't seem right. However, we have another review site and over the past years we've had reviewers that signed up, received books and then we've never heard from them again. The mandatory deposit fee is for us to know you are serious. If you flake out on us after receiving the books, we will deduct the cost of the book and the shipping from your deposit and send it to the author/publisher to cover their costs.
However, the good news is that if you are a reviewer in good standing for one year, we will refund your total deposit and you will then become an honorary reviewer. If you decide to quit before the year is up, we will refund the fee to you providing you are in good standing but we will keep 15% for our admin costs. Thanks for understanding why we have to do this; we are trying to be fair to everyone.
What happens if I have an honorary membership and I don't post a review?
Don't try it - we will take drastic measures. If you don't post the review, send the book back to the author or pay for it, we will call your local police and charge you with petty theft. No doubt about it. Yes, we are tough and we follow through. This is NOT the place to get free books.
